Our Story

From Industrial Heritage to Clean Energy Future

pearlthorn was established in Leeds in 2009, at a time when sustainable energy was still considered a niche concern for most regional businesses. Our founders recognised that Yorkshire's manufacturing and industrial heritage meant significant energy consumption — and significant opportunity for improvement.

What started as a small consultancy focused on energy audits for local manufacturers has grown into a comprehensive sustainability practice serving businesses of all sizes across the region. We have guided hundreds of organisations through their transition to cleaner operations, from initial assessments to full-scale renewable installations.

Our approach has always been practical rather than ideological. We understand that businesses need solutions that make financial sense alongside environmental ones. Every recommendation we make is grounded in real numbers and achievable outcomes.

Our Principles

Values That Guide Every Engagement

Evidence-Based Recommendations

Every proposal we make is supported by data collected from your specific operations. We measure, analyse, and model before suggesting changes, ensuring recommendations are tailored to your reality.

Financial Pragmatism

Sustainability initiatives must make business sense. We prioritise interventions with clear return on investment and help you access grants and incentives that improve project economics.

Local Knowledge

Understanding Yorkshire's business landscape, regulatory environment, and available resources allows us to provide advice that accounts for regional specifics others might miss.

Long-Term Partnerships

We build relationships that extend beyond single projects. Many clients return year after year as their sustainability journey evolves and new opportunities emerge.
